Welcome to MarkFlow (also known as "Markdown Notes"). This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information and data are collected, used, and handled when you use our Android application.
We are committed to protecting your privacy, ensuring absolute transparency, and fully complying with Google Play Developer Program Policies.
2. Data Collection and Usage
MarkFlow is strictly designed as an offline-first application to maximize your privacy and data ownership.
folder_managed Local Storage
All text, markdown files, and folders you create are stored exclusively on your local device using an encrypted Room SQLite database. We do not have access to your personal notes.
cloud_sync Cloud Sync
If enabled, documents are securely transmitted and backed up to your designated cloud provider via secure OAuth2 tokens. We do not store or intermediate this data on our proprietary servers.
3. Android Permissions
To provide our core application functionality, MarkFlow requests the following device permissions only when strictly necessary:

Storage / Media Required to export your markdown notes to your local file system, as well as generate ZIP backups or read imported documents.

Internet Access Required exclusively for optional Cloud Synchronization features and to fetch completions if you choose to use the Gemini AI Writing Assistant.
4. Third-Party Services
MarkFlow utilizes selected third-party services to enhance application features, which operate under their own Privacy Policies:
- play_circle Google Play Services: Used for secure authentication, crash reporting, and application analytics to improve performance.
- auto_awesome Gemini AI (Optional): If enabled, the AI Writing Assistant sends your explicit prompts securely to the AI provider via HTTPS to generate text. Your local notes are not transmitted unless you include them in your prompt.
5. Data Retention & Deletion
Because your data is stored locally, you maintain absolute control over it. You can permanently delete individual notes, folders, or clear the entire application data at any time via your Android System Settings (Settings > Apps > MarkFlow > Clear Data). If you utilize Cloud Sync, you can manage and delete your backed-up files directly through your cloud provider's interface.
6. Children's Privacy
Our application does not knowingly collect personal identifiable information from children under the age of 13. The application is intended for general audiences. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided us with personal information, we will immediately take steps to ensure its deletion.
